Launched in 2018, the Long Nguyen and Kimmy Duong Scholarship Program supports undergraduate students enrolled at the following Washington, DC–area institutions:

  • University of Maryland (UMD-CP, UMB, UMBC)
  • George Mason University (GMU)
  • Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA)
  • Montgomery College (MC)
  • Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VT)
  • University of Virginia (UVA)
  • Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)
  • University of the District of Columbia (UDC)

Eligible students must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents, regardless of ethnicity (except for the 3 gold scholarships mentioned below) who demonstrate:

  • Outstanding academic achievement,
  • Strong leadership potential,
  • A track record of service to the communities,
  • Pride in their culture and heritage,
  • A passion to apply their academic background to create a better world
  • Accepting scholarships at the Scholarship Award Ceremony.

Students should apply through: https://thekimmyduongfoundation.org. Scholarships will be awarded for the school year 2026-2027. 

  • 3 Gold scholarships will be reserved for Vietnamese students from Vietnam, who have been accepted to the above 10 U.S. universities.
  • Each scholarship will be $3,000 annually (Diamond Prize), $2,000 annually (Gold Prize)
  • The top scholar will be awarded $5,000 (Platinum Prize)
  • The scholarship is renewable annually for up to 4 years, for students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
